Week 8 #5 Action Shot

Over Labor Day weekend my husband and I visited our daughter and her family in Minnesota.  Before moving to Minnesota they lived in Colorado and enjoyed all that mountain life had to offer.  They are an active family and decided to try joining a boat club on Lake Minnetonka.  Several times a month they head out for a fun afternoon exploring the lake.  Lake Minnetonka is a 14,500 acre lake located west of Minneapolis and is the 9th largest lake in the land of 10,000 lakes.  Its a popular spot because of its proximity to the city. Beautiful cottages and multi-million dollar homes line the shore line.  My grandkids love to hop on one of  large inner tubes available to rent and be pulled around at break neck speeds.  Amazingly they both hung on with smiles on their faces while I captured this Action Shot and NEVER fell off!

I have always enjoyed photography, but with encouragemet from family and friends over the past several years I began to realize I really love it! Belonging to this blog and a local digital photo group has challenged me to look at the beauty of the world and to enjoy capturing it with my camera.

  1. Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a local health club sponsored an annual five mile swim from Excelsior to Wayzatta Bay. In preparation for the race, we trained by swimming behind a rowboat around the bays and peninsulas of Lake Minnetonka. There are a lot of wealthy people who live on that lake, some with boat houses many times the size of the average home. We used to call our sunrise sessions, “the swim of dreams”.

  3. Super photo! Even more impressive that you were able to take it from the back of a speeding boat!

  4. Thanks Ann, it was a bit of a challenge, the boat did rock around a lot especially when we went over another boats wake!

  5. How lucky you were to be there!
