We are fortunate to live in the Sarasota area to be able to watch Nick Wallenda’s practice sessions for his upcoming Wirewalk in Chicago on November 2 at 7p.m. He will be walking between two high-rises in downtown Chicago 50 stories in the air, blindfolded. It will be televised on the Discovery Channel. Last evening my husband and I stopped to watch one of his practices. The crew and family start off with a group prayer before he dons his special shoes, hand made by his mother, to begin his climb. He walked up a 15% grade wire holding a 43 pound bar to the height of 80 feet. He made 3 trips up and during the second trip he closed his eyes for about 3/4 of the trip. Proving to be a true performer he stopped about 3/4 the way up on the second trip to take a selfie! We plan on stopping again to watch when he begins to wear his blindfold. He will be practicing for 3 weeks at Benderson Park.
